About the song

Sober is a song where Demi Lovato sings about breaking sobriety. Although the singer has not confirmed whether she's singing about herself, many have speculated that the song is about a personal relapse after posting the release of the song on Twitter and referring to it as "my truth".

She wrote this song as a call for someone to help her when she was going through hard times and relapsed into her addiction. After analysing the lyrics I worked out she has two personalities in the song; a part of her knows that what she is doing is not the correct thing and is very sorry while the other part of her thinks she needs this to avoid and disconnect from reality.

From an outsiders point of view, the song makes me feel a lot of empathy for her because addiction is not the persons fault, it's the mental illness that invades them and makes them vulnerable. They have to fight their inner turmoil and fill their void with something which in this case is alcohol.

The message she tries to get through in the lyrics is that she needs help and on top of all that she is sorry and that is the message I want to get through in my music video.
